The Signs in the Stars

When God created the universe, He put the sun, moon and stars in heaven for our seasons, days and years but also as signs. (Gen 1:14-15)

Since the beginning of time, astronomers studied the stars and interestingly, they discovered revelations of future events. When Jesus was born, wise men saw the star of the King of the Jews in heaven and followed it to His birthplace. They knew He was God and worshiped Him. (Mat 1-12)

Jesus also mentioned the signs of the sun, moon and stars leading to a distressful period in nations, perplexity with the sea and waves roaring. (Luke 21:25)

Daniel mentioned about things that we don’t understand which will be revealed at the end of times. (Dan 12:8-9)

God uses the stars as signs but even though we can read the signs, we should not follow the stars to determine our future. The stars are not mysteriously ruling over us, God is ruling over us. The signs are only there to warn us, hence the difference between astronomy and astrology.

In Revelation 12:1-2, we read about a great sign that will appear in heaven of a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

That sign will occur on 23 September 2017.

Virgo is the sign of the woman with everything in place but… the twelve stars. She only has nine stars on her head. However, on the 23rd September, three other stars, Mercury, Mars and Venus, will move into a position of proximity with the nine others to form twelve.

The woman in Revelation is about to give birth to a child when another sign appears in heaven. A fiery red dragon approaches to devour the Child as soon as He was born. A male Child was born but God caught Him up to His throne before the dragon could do anything.

In the sign of Virgo, Jesus is the child represented by Jupiter.

In 1983 astronomers discovered a foreign celestial body moving into our solar system. Institutions who identified the object, mysteriously hid it from the public eye. Other people though, managed to get a picture of this object and it appears like a fiery red monster.

This monster or dragon is on its way to collide with Jupiter. This will have serious consequences for us on earth.

Some say the rapture will take place on 23 September 2017 while others say it is the end of the world. However, Jesus said that no one knows the date and hour of His return and He warned us of difficult times ahead.

Personally, I believe the end of the world is not that close.

What is the significance of these signs then? The signs are there only to help us realise that time is running out for the world but if we should die today of a heart attack or something else, our time has indeed run out anyway.

The big question comes to mind, where will we be when that happens? Time to find Jesus is now.

To think about ourselves would be very selfish if we do not share Jesus to those around us who haven’t met Him yet.

Most importantly, don’t be anxious – Jesus said that He will be with us always, even to the end of this age. (Mat 28:20)
