Jeremy lied down on the floor looking at the ceiling. He experienced the worst time of his life. In his mind he thought of the words of Jesus in Matthew 18:3, “become as little children”
He surrendered himself into the hands of Jesus, “Here I am, Lord, Your child, I cannot move forward anymore. I am finished!”
The words of Jesus came softly but very clearly in his mind, “My child, what is your problem?”
“My problem, Lord, is that I have made too many mistakes for one person in one lifetime. I thought I did what You wanted me to do but I was obviously mistaken. I have failed dismally.”
“Jeremy, when I said you must become like little children, I was referring to faith because a child trusts completely in his parents and believe what they tell him. You don’t have faith.”
“Oh, but I do, Lord!”
“Let Me tell you a secret. I have the most conversations every day with children, far more than with grown-ups. I started talking to you when you were small too.”
“Then you grew up too fast for your childlike trust to keep up. You asked Me to guide you in your daily life but then you started to doubt whether it was Me talking or your own mind. It was Me all along, Jeremy, if only you have listened. Now you’re lying on the floor like a child.”
“When a child lies on the ground crying, his parents pick him up and sooth him, or they clean or feed him.”
“You are too big for that, Jeremy. Pick yourself up from the floor and listen to Me. I love you too much to let you give up. I know what you’re going through and I will help you but you must do your part in living.”
“Go and do. Listen to Me and follow My words. I never told you to become My disciple and sit down at My feet all day to receive Biblical truths. I said, follow Me!”
“You’re not in heaven yet so follow Me does not refer to you physically walking behind Me. It means that when you have asked Me something, you stand up in your spiritual mind and focus on My guidance.”
“Stop seeing yourself in a situation of failure but get up and walk towards a new tomorrow, expecting a new day.”
“Many would call that a miracle but you and I know that it is the normal follow-Me way, called faith.”
“You cannot follow Me if you do not walk in the spirit and listen. I never said it would be easy but trust in Me the way you did when you were small, and son, stand up and stand tall!”
