I Know

Colette was looking forward to share the events of the past week with her friend, Andrew. When they met, she soon started talking.

“Oh, Andrew, it is so frustrating to face all the victimisation at the office. It seems my boss, for some reason, suddenly discovered he dislikes me. Do you know how I feel?”

“I know,” said Andrew, “it is bad.”

“Really….. It is so funny how casually you use the word, know. Honestly, how could you?”

“But I know how you must feel, Colette!”

“No, you don’t. Since we’ve met I’ve been trying to explain to you how important it is to accept Jesus as your Saviour but you didn’t want to. Do you know how I feel about that too?”

“Colette, I know Jesus but I don’t think it is necessary to make that kind of commitment in order to become a better person. I am sure Jesus would understand that. I know he would, I know Him.”

“Wow, you don’t know Him. When you say you know me it means more than you knowing my name, Andrew. You know what I look like, what I prefer and you talk and listen to me when we’re together. Yes you know me but you only know Jesus’ Name.”

“When you recite a poem you do it perfectly because you know it by heart. You haven’t accepted Jesus into your heart yet so you don’t know what He prefers and love and care for. You don’t know Him at all.”

“To know someone means you are acquainted with that person through sight, experience and report. You have none of these with Jesus and yet, you say you know Him!”

“I didn’t mind you not knowing how I felt this week because you were not present. Don’t tell me that you know.”

“You are such a decent, respectable young man but your decency and good deeds will benefit you nothing on the day you die, unless you learn to know Jesus.”

“On that day you will shout how you have looked after the poor and needy, how much money you donated to charity. You may even have become a member of a church casting out demons and performing miracles, but if you don’t know Jesus, He will tell you to depart because He needs to know you!” (Mat 7:23)

“He knows your name but for Him to know you, requires of you to know Him, to seek His face and talk to Him and, mark my words, then He will talk to you too.”

“Then you would be able to say, I know Him.”
