Come rain, sun, wind and sand
I’m the ground on which you stand
It is on me you run down here below
It’s in me you mine and sow—I gave and gave and still give some more!
I am what you claim, “my ground”
but thanks to you, I am cursed (Gen 3:17)
and you, dear child, were bound
to toil instead of being nursed—And then you put the blame on me!
Something happened long ago
when God saw Moses on the mount
Told him to take his sandals off (Ex 3:5)
Cause he was on h-o-l-y ground—So wonderful to know!
One day my Maker came
stars and angels everywhere (Luke 2:13)
Nothing will ever be the same
Walking on me, He went from there—If I could, you’d hear me sing!
Then… my darkest day!
That day you took Him away!
Blood dripped onto me, if only I could hide (Mat 27:45)
The day went dark… and then He died—I shook and cracked open wide!
His Father woke Him up again
right there on the ground (Mat 28:6)
Now you’re free in Jesus’ Name
to be holy and unbound—New life, new hope but no new ground!
Everywhere on me, His people go
Now I’m holy ground on high and low (Ps 24:1)
Those who make my Maker known
are clearly those whose favour show—His light shines on me too you know
I’m very old and ancient ground
With Jesus though you’re young and sound
please hasten now and don’t delay
for I need Jesus come and take you away—I’m getting very tired now!
I’m earnestly expecting
and eagerly waiting
for the revealing
of the sons of God! (Rom 8:19)
