Those who know their parents well
know how they touch and sound and smell
Remember their voices
and all the good choices
I know how it feels when dad holds you tight
or when mom tugs you in at night
Nothing however, comes close
to Jesus embracing your soul
The feeling of care and love
in showers of grace from above
I love You Lord!
I am getting older now
My kids have kiddies of their own
I know all of them well
Sometimes… not at all
You know them better, Lord
and I love You even more!
Old is not bad at all
standing in Jesus so tall
I’m glad He’s my Dad
yet, often I’ve made Him sad
Through all of my years on earth
I’ve never learnt to call Him, Dad
When I did, was when things were bad
I wish I’d always called Him… Dad
When I remember these things,
I pour out my soul within me. (Psalm 42:4)
I love You, Dad!
I really do
Please teach me
to love the way You do
Now I’m cold and feeling blue
please hold me close to You!
I long to feel and smell Your face
while drowning in Your loving grace!
