Reality Check

It was late at night in the Peterson home. Brenda was about to switch the TV off when she noticed something. “Come and have a look at this, Tony!” she shouted.

“Look” she said, pointing her finger at the screen. “They’re advertising a tour to Israel, inviting people to walk in the footsteps of Jesus! Wouldn’t it be fun?”

Tony sat down next to her on the coach. “Yes, it would be nice to walk where Jesus actually walked and sat where He taught. Imagine, walking in His footsteps!”

“Why would you want to do that?” Jesus asked.

Startled, they looked at each other. “Did you hear that?” Brenda asked.

“Look who’s finally listening,” Jesus said. “I have asked you why you would want to go to a place where I walked more than 2000 years ago. Let Me ask you another question. Where am I?”

“You are in heaven, Lord,” Tony answered.

“At this moment?” Jesus asked.

After a brief moment of silence Brenda replied, “You are here, Lord.”

“Haven’t I always been here with you?”

“Yes, Lord.”

“It is time you stop worshipping an image of Someone in history who walked in Israel a long time ago. I’ve been walking with you since the day you took My hand and yet, you struggle to grasp the fact that I am real!”

“Come now, take a reality check. Open your spiritual eyes and live with Me with the same enthusiasm you would have going on tour to Israel.”

“If you still want to go on tour, it is fine. However, you’ll be taking Me with you and I’ll be walking with you in My own footsteps from a long time ago.”

“If only you would share every second with Me while living your lives here where you are, that would be great! It would prove that you believe in My presence and that you care.”

“Remember, children, I will not see you for the first time when you get to heaven. I would not need to ask you how your lives on earth have been. I’ve been living with you every second! I am a reality!”

“You and I are making brand new footsteps wherever you go. Behind you are people following those steps because I am with you. You should pause sometimes and introduce them to Me. Only, never let go of the fact that I am real!”
