Guy Armstrong has had a lot on his mind since the arrival of the New Year. His real name is Reginald but a teacher called him “Guy” many years ago and the name stuck. He has been grappling with many issues regarding his life, options he should consider in order to survive financially. Busy with his own thoughts, he hears Jesus speak to him:
“Guy, why don’t you ask Me for advice? I am not far away, son. Apart from that, you know that the Holy Spirit is indwelling you and every other person who believes in Me.” (John 16:3)
“He is able to supply you with advice on anything, advice He receives directly from Me (John 16:14,15). You have so many questions and yet, you haven’t asked Me anything.”
“You are not the only person neglecting to do this, Guy. Although I am the only One able to tell people what they need to know, only a few ask Me for guidance. Some of those who do ask, seldom listen because they have already made up their minds about what they want to do anyway. Some are afraid they might hear Me say what they don’t want to hear.”
“Usually, the only time they are serious to speak to Me, is when they need blessings and healing or prosperity. However, if they would ask Me for knowledge or wisdom of any kind, they would receive it, and then their joy would be full.” (John 16:24)
“Mostly people think that one day when they enter into heaven they would ask Me everything they’ve always wanted to know and more. A popular subject is: ‘Lord, what should I have done with my life?’ You know,
Guy, on that day, you will ask Me nothing… simply because you would be knowing all the things that you don’t know now.” (John 16:23)
“Today, while you are planning ahead for this year, ask Me what you would be needing. You only get this one chance to live on earth. The time to ask is now, use it to receive the knowledge while it still matters what you are doing on this side of heaven. ”
