Rivers

To the writer, the farmer, the preacher
The housewife, the teacher
Scientist, politician - to everyone who feels a bit low.
Take what's in your hand, be it pen or plow, speech, ladle
Whatever you've got to sow, take courage and let it flow
Substitute my "pen" for what's in your hand
And make God's message part of your land.

Let the rivers flow out of your pen and let it grow
Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow
Notice how the trees next to the river grow
Notice the flowers, the bees and let go
You don’t have the power to flow, neither the power to grow
All you have, is the power to sow
Take the seed and scatter as you go

The river starts where people live and walk and pray
Into My hands they give their cares away
From where I see and hear and stay
The seed is formed, multiplied but sometimes stacked away
I need farmers, labourers and harvesters
to sow and scatter seed away

The seed starts to grow, and the river starts to flow
People in need follow the river wherever it goes
They drink the water and power flows
And so, My dear farmer, out of your pen, hope grows
I know you grow tired, you feel you’ve been fired
Believe Me, My child, your life has hardly begun

Look into My eyes
Notice that I am looking straight at you
Take courage, My child,
this river has to run wild
I need the river to flow, to rise into a flood
To flood the banks, the valleys and river veins like blood

Now, as you think it’s the end
New life is beginning to feed and to mend
To nourish and satisfy,
To rejuvenate and multiply
Yes, My dear farmer, don’t stop or delay
Take the seed and scatter it away

And as you do, notice My hand is present too
I love you so much, much more than you think I do

Now is the Time

You heard the Message but what did you hear?
Revelation of facts – then why do you fear?
The truth is – Jesus is on His way here
but alas, where are you... dear?

All you see is painted in blue
Dark clouds across the face of you
Blue is great but if it’s all you can see
it is too dark and not at all true

Creation picked a pace of swiftness and new
leaving us content with things unfinished and skew
What seems to us like a fresh breeze
is in fact an old trace of yesterday’s sneeze

Time decided to take longer strides
picking up speed at a dangerous pace
We trip and we slide
as we follow the race

The past still clutching the heels of today
as the future gets bumped from behind
Now… suddenly melting away
here... at the end of this sentence… dead

We all rush to the feast
invitations in hand
Alas we’ll find
we’ve missed the party, understand?

The problem my friend
lies in our minds
Time may past very slow or super fast
Now… will always last

Now is the moment we are alive
Now is the time to live and smile
Time to live for Jesus is now
and to do it best in the way we know how

You see, My child
the Message is clear
Now... is most precious
because Jesus already is here!

I love you Dad

Those who know their parents well
know how they touch and sound and smell
Remember their voices
and all the good choices

I know how it feels when dad holds you tight
or when mom tugs you in at night

Nothing however, comes close
to Jesus embracing your soul
The feeling of care and love
in showers of grace from above

I love You Lord!

I am getting older now
My kids have kiddies of their own
I know all of them well
Sometimes… not at all

You know them better, Lord
and I love You even more!

Old is not bad at all
standing in Jesus so tall
I’m glad He’s my Dad
yet, often I’ve made Him sad

Through all of my years on earth
I’ve never learnt to call Him, Dad
When I did, was when things were bad
I wish I’d always called Him… Dad

When I remember these things,
I pour out my soul within me. (Psalm 42:4)

I love You, Dad!
I really do
Please teach me
to love the way You do

Now I’m cold and feeling blue
please hold me close to You!
I long to feel and smell Your face
while drowning in Your loving grace!

The Ground

Come rain, sun, wind and sand
I’m the ground on which you stand
It is on me you run down here below
It’s in me you mine and sow—I gave and gave and still give some more!

I am what you claim, “my ground”
but thanks to you, I am cursed (Gen 3:17)
and you, dear child, were bound
to toil instead of being nursed—And then you put the blame on me!

Something happened long ago
when God saw Moses on the mount
Told him to take his sandals off (Ex 3:5)
Cause he was on h-o-l-y ground—So wonderful to know!

One day my Maker came
stars and angels everywhere (Luke 2:13)
Nothing will ever be the same
Walking on me, He went from there—If I could, you’d hear me sing!

Then… my darkest day!
That day you took Him away!
Blood dripped onto me, if only I could hide (Mat 27:45)
The day went dark… and then He died—I shook and cracked open wide!

His Father woke Him up again
right there on the ground (Mat 28:6)
Now you’re free in Jesus’ Name
to be holy and unbound—New life, new hope but no new ground!

Everywhere on me, His people go
Now I’m holy ground on high and low (Ps 24:1)
Those who make my Maker known
are clearly those whose favour show—His light shines on me too you know

I’m very old and ancient ground
With Jesus though you’re young and sound
please hasten now and don’t delay
for I need Jesus come and take you away—I’m getting very tired now!

I’m earnestly expecting
and eagerly waiting
for the revealing
of the sons of God! (Rom 8:19)

Ballet of the Trees

At the end of a warm day
a breeze ushers the heat away
flowing through the trees with care
applying a lotion of soft, cool air

Excitement ripples through the leaves
as Ballerinas tiptoe and bend their knees
they turn, flow, surge and sway
come closer and then just move away

Through a window on the stage,
sunrays magnify the final page
Unable to watch the show
they touch… caress before they go

Young and slender, pliant with glare
dressed in sparkle, shine and flare
Arms and legs in unison control
the opus of the wind’s night soul

The hall is ready to behold
and watch the majestic show unfold
When the curtains finally open wide
the air stops breathing for a while

A classical dance starts to take place
in a royal exposition of bliss and grace
elegant sinuous patterns appear
to enhance the passionate atmosphere

So beautiful, so great, so Godly good
in a hall so huge with ample room
yet, only a few by chance would see
this beautiful concert of the tree

This ballet is nature’s aptitude
of tall trees dancing in the night’s prelude
The performance, continuous and precise
only for those who know – God made this!

Rest in Me

You have opened your heart to let Me in
to be loved by Me as your next of kin
If people look at you
would they know I am here too?

You kept on running wherever you went
resting was pointless, not a second to spend
You ran for your future, away from your past
unaware the distance won’t last

You ran in your faith for what you believed
purpose unknown as if to be freed
your race was unbound
until no more future could be found

You stopped, not knowing where you were
and there was no one else around
If people would look at you now
would they be able to see Me too?

My dear, dear child
why are you running?
All I wanted was for you to stay
but you managed to run so far, far away

You have worked so hard
tried to be so very smart
Your faith became a task
relying on your efforts to last

You have opened your heart to let Me in
to be loved by Me as your next of kin
I am still here, My child
I will always be at your side

Ah, at last… you understand
I’m all you will ever need
Come rest in Me
Rest and start living your life with Me

Tumbleweed Cries

A tumbleweed rolls as the wind blows
it bumps, jumps, stumbles and sows
For meters and miles and further it goes
And all along the way new tumbleweeds grow

The wind picked her up but she couldn’t fly
She tumbled and rolled until she crashed and died
The old tumbleweed’s life ended with a sigh
And all along the way her precious seeds lie

For new tumbleweeds to grow
does not just happen after the show
Months and sometimes years go by
before a new tumbleweed sees the sky

It was time for this tumbleweed to say its goodbye
her life ended in the wink of an eye…

Time is the factor that rules our lives
Not the wind or tumbleweed cries

So here we are in our race to the end
we run and we jump but soon we just blend
We seem to forget that we are sent
to make a difference before the end

If Jesus should visit you today, what would He say?
“It’s a pity the wind has blown you the wrong way”?
Or would He tell you, “Don’t worry, the end is nigh”?
Bet you don’t want to hear that, not even when you cry.

Now, my child, what have you done with your time?
Suddenly my story feels completely out of rhyme
Remember, when Jesus says He has all the time in the world
For us, it is running out…

The Colour of Faith is Blue

Mathematics has a certain rule
To get 2, 1 plus 1 is the clue
Nothing can progress with one or less

God uses maths in a different way
creating by what He would say
Out of nothing becomes plenty and more

Out of nothing everything was formed, all that is found
Stars, planets, animals and plants
Last, but not least, man were put on the ground

Faith is a fact based on the truth
yet not to rely on the world as proof
The secret lies in the inner man, where Jesus holds us in His hand

To look down will only make you frown
Look up and notice the blue
Know that God, the Spirit and Jesus is true

Atheists believe we’re all alone and God is none
Many believe, but some think God is not strong
Not knowing exactly why, they believe creation is a lie

Those who don’t believe, say evolution is the clue
they regard God equal to you
They say the world is too old for creation as we were told

The dried and withered fig tree appeared many years old
yet, the day before it was still green and bold
The disciples saw this and it became a new witness

People in disbelief calculate age with things they hold
but God said, “let this rock be,”
and there it was, appearing millions of years old

Some people study the ground for reasons to find creation unsound
We look at the sky and notice the blue
the colour of faith where God smiles back at you

Trust

I’ve experienced some minor illness for a couple of weeks but Praise God, am glad to say that I’ve recuperated well! During my ordeal I almost lost track of the reality of the grace of God in action, which He explained to me through the short letter that follows.

Take time to settle down
Keep in mind you’ve just come around
I should ask you where you’ve been,
nowhere to be found,
although you could be seen

Stop doing hide and seek
like an ostrich with his head in a creek
You’ll never be able to hide from Me
your presence is My symphony

It changes into a very sad song
when you’re here, pretending to be gone
It’s so sad, My child, when you are near
but somehow seems to have disappeared

Something is missing in what you do
I call it our spiritual glue
This is something you have to follow through
it’s called faith…, and is not new to you

Faith is not fruit that grow on trees
something you can pick whenever you please
it is not a Band-Aid strip, to use when you cut your fingertip
You will not find it in a red cross case, or an ICU base

Faith is not a magic word
as something spoken to be heard
Faith is not a mystery
only for those with a certain destiny

There are many things faith is not
But let Me tell you, it is all you’ve got
It is nothing more than trust…, My child
Especially when you feel, everything’s gone wild

David said mercy is all around those who trust in Me
That enabled him to cut Goliath’s height, to beneath his knee
Thrown into a fire or a lion’s den,
Daniel came through time and again

The only thing you have to do
is make this true to you
Take it, make it yours and just do
trust that I am here… just like you

It is untouchable as the light you can see
yet powerful enough to uproot a tree
wherever you go, I’ll be going with you
because trusting in Me, is like Me carrying you.

Expectations

Expectations is pregnant, filled with hope or fear
With fear on top, hopelessness is near
Hope has a total different attitude
observing life from a much higher altitude

So many with wide opened eyes
look at where the blood moon lies
Expecting to find on that day
the end of the world in a brutal way

Yet, nowhere in the 66 books of Life
a date is revealed of the end of life
That day will come as a thief in the night
No-one knows how or when it might

We are alive in the most exiting days
while reading the Word and feel what it says
Who believe God is far, feel the fear
Those with hope, know He is near

Expectations, still pregnant and strong
is for us to have, good or wrong
Expecting Jesus to be here is good
expecting problems and pain is wrong

Expectations require a very strong hand
for the way we believe, is the way we stand
Jesus is here, showing us the way
and He is coming to take us one day

When the final day do appear
We’ll move into another atmosphere
A brand new life in a brand new land
with a new body forever in hand

I love life as it is
teaching me where Jesus is
If it was not for problems and pain
How else would I see His hand to reign

I’m so looking forward, for today He is here
I’m so looking forward when He will reappear
I’m so glad, I’m so thrilled
I’m so at ease, heaven already is here
